Sheriff Scott Stephens 940 Beasley Street Sheriff Scott Stephens is the chief-law enforcement officer in the County. He was elected to his first four-year term in November, 2000. The Sheriff's Office operates patrol and investigation divisions and is responsible for the operations of the Union County Jail. The Sheriff has a staff of 20 deputies assigned to either patrol, school resource officers, or investigation. The Patrol Division has 14 deputies and provides security to the residents of the county 24/7/365. Each deputy is provided a late-model Crown Victoria cruiser, equipped with all the tools necessary to perform to the highest standards of law enforcement. All deputies are certified law enforcement officers having received their training at the State of Georgia P.O.S.T. training center in Forsyth, Georgia. In addition, all are CPR and First Aid trained to be able to respond quickly to any emergency situation. The Jail Division officers provide security at the jail and are specifically trained in the latest jail procedures. They receive and process arrestees from the Georgia State Patrol, Blairsville Police Department and various other State and Regional law enforcement agencies. They also transport inmates to and from court appearances and transfer them to other facilities when appropriate. Animal Control is handled by Kent Wall, Animal Control Officer. Additional staff:
