Alcohol Licensing

NEW ALCOHOL LICENSES

STEP ONE:  If you are interested in applying for an alcohol license, please consult the
Union County Government Alcohol Ordinance.   It is important that all applicants read and understand the responsibilities and commitment required by applicants and registered agents.

STEP TWO:  Download the INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE ALCOHOL APPLICATION PACKET and the ALCOHOL APPLICATION.  Consult the costs found on the ALCOHOL LICENSING FEE SCHEDULE.

STEP THREE:  Once the packet is complete, please call the Commissioner’s Office to request an appointment with the Secretary to the Alcohol Board.

ALCOHOL LICENSE RENEWAL

Applications for renewing an alcohol license will be mailed out to licensees in mid-October with a strict deadline in order to be heard by the Alcohol Board.  The Renewal process will require a Renewal application, an annual background check, and the renewal fee for the type of license held.  All Renewal applications are approved by the Union County Alcohol Board.  Failure to receive renewal approval prior to December 31 each year will require  a licensee to begin the Alcohol Licensing process under a new initial application and approval.

ALCOHOL REPORTING

Bi-Annual:
Alcohol Sales Reports are due from each licensed establishment (Twice per Year) by January 30th and July 30th annually.   Please use the appropriate form (BELOW) for the type of Alcohol License held.

Monthly: 
If distilled spirits are sold, excise tax should be remitted to the Union County Commissioner’s Office monthly using this form:  Distilled Spirits Excise Tax Report

If you do not have an alcohol license and you would like to have a temporary special event where alcohol is sold, read the section of the ordinance that pertains to this and then complete the below form.

The Alcohol Board Meetings are generally held in Room 201 at the
Union County Community Center 4:30pm – 6:00pm.

Message from Union County Commissioner's Office:

A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. in the Union County Courthouse, 65 Courthouse Street,
Courtroom A, Blairsville, Georgia

The purpose of this hearing will be for Union County to provide information and answer questions regarding the abandonment of Old Lows Mill Road and Old Ivy Log Road as they no longer serve a useful public purpose.
